Cyprus programme guide
Cyprus Digital Nomad residence
A temporary Cyprus base for eligible remote professionals whose employers or clients are abroad.
For readers in Jordan, the Gulf, Palestine and Cyprus
Minimum stable monthly income after taxes and contributions
The overview
Understand the route.
The scheme lets eligible remote workers live temporarily in Cyprus while continuing their foreign-facing work. It does not authorise taking up a job with a Cyprus employer.
The official scheme has a 500-permit ceiling. Confirm current availability and entry requirements before arranging your move.
Before you begin
What to review.
- Hold non-EU/non-EEA nationality and be able to work remotely using telecommunications technology.
- Work for an employer registered abroad or provide services to clients abroad, with evidence covering the requested permit period.
- Show at least €3,500 net monthly resources plus the applicable family additions and evidence of stable income.
- Meet the criminal-record, health-cover, accommodation and other requirements in the current official checklist.

Documents to discuss.
A practical starting list. Your circumstances and the current official checklist determine what is required.
- Passport and evidence of lawful entry or existing residence
- Foreign employment contract or client/service contracts and remote-work confirmation
- Income evidence and detailed bank statements for the last six months
- Criminal-record, medical/insurance and accommodation documents required by the checklist
- Certified family documents for accompanying dependants
Keep the full picture
Details deserve attention.
- Spouse/civil partner and minor children can apply for the same residence period. Dependants cannot work or perform economic activity in Cyprus under this status.
- The published examination estimate is five to seven weeks. A complete file, available places and the authority's decision determine the outcome.
- Permit issuance/renewal is €70; first Aliens' Registry registration is another €70 where required. Tax residence requires a separate assessment and is not a promise of tax-free income.
The questions that matter
A little more clarity.
Can I work for a local Cyprus company?
This route is for remote work for employers or clients abroad. A local employment plan needs the appropriate alternative residence and work permission.
What is the threshold for a couple with one child?
Using the €3,500 base plus 20% for a spouse/civil partner and 15% for one child gives €4,725 net per month. Evidence and eligibility still need assessment.
Is this permanent residency?
No. The first permit lasts one year, with possible renewal for up to two more years. Renewal is conditional and this permit does not grant citizenship.
